Introduction

We all very well know that the most common virus of now-a-days is shortcut virus. This virus can be easily spread from one system to another system. The property of this virus is that it creates a folder without a name or a shortcut inside your affected disk (like pen drive). When user opens that folder for shortcut then he gets his data but he does not knows that the virus has been inject into his system.

How to check availablity of  virus

When you open you drive and if you find no data inside it and some shortcuts then it is sure that your drive has been infected of shortcut virus.

Solution

Step 1:

First of all when you insert the infected pen drive then do not open anything (like folder or a shortcut) inside it. Then go to control panel and open folder settings ( in the latest version of Windows i.e.10 it is named as File Explorer Options). .

Then go to View tab.

Step 2:

Now click on show hidden files and folders .

Step 3:

Now scroll down and click on Show Protected System Files .

An alert dialog will open. Now click on Yes.

Step 4:

Now open your pen drive and you will find a folder without any label . Open it and you will get all data.

Note:

If you find any shortcut inside your drive then delete it because it may be application having  virus which may infect your system.

                                                                Thanks :-)
